Hi everyone,
Our names are Amritha, Anna, Felicity & Monique, and under The Oaktree Foundation, we are organising a Clothes Swap this month to raise funds in support of the Timor-Leste Youth Livelihoods Program. We are aspiring to raise over $1000, and are writing to seek your help iand support of this incredible cause.

The Oaktree Foundation is an amazing and entirely youth-run organisation which is working to empower developing communities through education. It believes that education is the key to breaking the poverty cycle and creating lasting change in the lives of the disadvantaged.

The focus of Oaktree’s work this year is on East Timor. Unemployment for East Timorese youth is staggeringly high, running at approximately 43% nationally. This is where the ‘Youth Livelihoods Program’ comes in. This program equips Timorese youth with the vocational, business and life skills training they need to create their own businesses and generate income to support themselves and their families. These youth are the future of East Timor. In their success lies the reconstruction of an East Timor battered by political unrest and conflict.

We are especially writing to ask for your help because we believe that your donation will help us raise money to alleviate the poverty of East Timorese youth, and the swap meet will provide everyone with the opportunity to exchange their pre-loved clothes, books, accessories and so forth with others in the spirit of greater sustainability. The success of numerous markets stands as testament to the idea that one person’s ‘trash’, can truly be another’s ‘treasure’. A Clothes Swap fundraiser offers great potential to build upon this success in a manner which also raises crucial funds for the ‘Youth Livelihoods Program’.
The event will be held on the 28th of June. Please have a look at our website: http://swaptilyoudrop.blogspot.com/

Thank you so much in advance for consideration of your support.

Sincerely,

Amritha, Anna, Felicity & Monique
