The Mental Health Research Institute
The Mental Health Research Institute is Australia’s premier psychiatric research organisation. It is internationally recognised for its achievements and is formally affiliated with the University of Melbourne, Melbourne Health and Monash University. The Mental Health Research Institute has both laboratory and clinical research programs which study the normal and abnormal brain in illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease, schizophrenia, depressive illnesses and Parkinson’s disease. Our aim is to understand the cause of mental illness and to use this knowledge to discover methods of early diagnosis of the illnesses, develop effective treatments for them and ultimately, to prevent or cure such illnesses.

Thanks for visiting my Online Giving Page!

For the One in Five Extreme Challenge I am competing in the Lorne Anaconda Adventure Race.

With my team mate Dean we will cover the 2km swim, 13km paddle, 16km run and 24km ride in about 5 to 6 hours (if all goes well!).

One in Five is a fantastic fundraising group, managed entirely by volunteers, who organise events throughout the year to raise money and awareness for mental health issues. This means all the money I raise from my extreme efforts in this challenge will go directly to the Mental Health Research Institute (MHRI).

The MHRI do some ground breaking work which improves the lives of those who suffer from mental illness and will hopefully one day enable One in Five to change its name to One in Ten, or One in Twenty...

Your donation will make a real difference. It only takes a few minutes to donate via this fundraising page and is completely secure.

The event also aims to raise awareness of the benefits of regular exercise on mental health. So, if you are getting inspired by reading this to get active - do it for both your body and mind!

Thanks for your support,

Ryan
